Wetside – Cascade River Ride

I was over on the wetside at my in-laws doing some home repairs, so I stirred up some wetside riders and put together a ride up the Cascade River.

We had a GREAT group of guys . . . . NWwanderer, Johnny2W rode down from Lynden, LoneArcher from Granite Falls, and Deerchser from Arlington. We all met up in Marble Mount around 9:00, and after a power breakfast of Chocolate doughnuts and chocolate milk we headed up the cascade river.

It is around 25 Miles to the summit, and only the first 5-10 was pavement, and after that it was 1.5 lanes of dirt. We stopped half way up for a photo.

The road was really in good shape, and there was not to much traffic on the way up to the top. LoneArcher is relatively new to dirt roads so I tried to take it easy “only ride as fast as the slowest rider” and everyone was okay with that as we have all “been there” by the end of the day on our return through mountain loop he was booking along the dirt roads like a seasoned rider !!

The view at the top was breathtaking . . . . . . . .

We where fortunate enough to see a pretty good avalanche while up there too . . . . that is NOT a waterfall, but rather a snow fall, and these crappy pictures do not do it justice or show the HUGE amount of snow that broke loose and slide down the mountain. You can see the break lines in the snow, and the spot in the middle is what calfed off . . . the rest will be coming down sooon.

After we headed back down the mountain, we stopped at the Buffalo Run restaurant for lunch, but Johnny2W & NWwanderer had to cut out early so they could not join us. Ironically we all tried the elk burger . . . . $14 for burger fries and drink, and should have asked for it Well done, as they where all almost raw in the middle, but thankfully no screaming $hits or illness’s

It was a great ride with a bunch of great guys, and on the way home, deerchser took the pavement home from Darington, while LoneArcher & I took Mountain loop back to Granite Falls so we could RIDE MORE DIRT !!! Hopefully we can get together again sometime, as I make it that way a couple times a year . . . .

On Fathers day, My cousin /in law took his jeep (my daughter rode with him because it was raining) and I rode the KLR. We went out Mountain loop and took as many side roads as we could find. A DAM GOOD FATHERS DAY I MUST SAY !! The mountains and rivers up in that area are . . . . . amazing !!!

The daughter had the camera . . . .

Road was washed out behind me in this shot . . . .

This gorgeous pool is just above a long water fall run, and holds sea run Dolly Varden

Some Seriously rugged mountains . . . .

Had a GREAT Time / Ride while over on the Wetside – We should do it again sometime !!!
